Canine Behaviourist
Liam Pantis
Liam is a dedicated advocate for the well-being of our furry companions, bringing a unique blend of academic expertise and hands-on experience to his role as the Canine Behaviourist here at Passion for Paws. Liam's journey into the world of canine behaviour began with a fascination for the intricate workings of the brain. Armed with a degree in Neuroscience from McGill University, he gained a deep understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying behaviour, learning, and cognition.
Liam's understanding of the adoption process for both dogs and humans is deeply rooted in personal experience. In 2023, he adopted Billy, a young bull terrier, and immediately began addressing the behavioural issues that arose. However, despite his best efforts, it became clear that the dog's needs were better suited for a different environment. This firsthand experience of rehoming a dog due to behavioural issues has given Liam invaluable insight into the complexities of the adoption journey, enabling him to support both dogs and adopters with empathy and understanding.
Driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of shelter dogs, and inspired by his own adoption experience, Liam pursued further education at the École de Formation des Intervenants Canins du Québec (ÉFICQ). There, he honed his skills in canine psychology, learning effective, evidence-based, positive reinforcement techniques for modifying behaviour and facilitating positive interactions between dogs and their human companions.
In addition to his work at Passion for Paws, Liam founded Billy’s Best, a company dedicated to helping dogs and owners alike by producing healthy, delicious, and enriching treats.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Liam is deeply involved in advocacy efforts aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and improving the welfare of animals in need. Through education, training, and community outreach, he strives to create a world where every dog has the opportunity to live a happy, fulfilling life.
Liam is honoured to be part of the dedicated team at Passion for Paws, where they work tirelessly to match dogs with loving families and ensure that every dog receives the care and support they deserve.
All dogs are good dogs.
